Our Dental Healthcare Team
Everyone at Standish Street Dental Practice is committed to providing you with the very best in dental healthcare. Our dental team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification. The practice has twice been awarded the "Denplan Practice Team of the Year Award"
The team consists of three dentists one visiting specialists in implantology and one Consultant orthodontist, six dedicated hygienists and one oral health educator. We have nine qualified dental nurses two of whom work on reception, and one of which manages the practice. Then we have one pure administrator who also works on reception.
All of our clinical staff are registered with the general dental council and follow a continual programme of professional development as set out by the GDC.

Chris Wood graduated from Manchester University in 1983 with Honours and is the principal dentist at Standish Street Dental Practice.
He has a strong interest in cosmetic dentistry and enjoys complex restorative work as well as Implant treatments.
He is committed to postgraduate training, maintaining a keen interest in the constant technological advances in modern dentistry.
The Royal College of Surgeons have recently awarded Chris the ultimate accolade of the Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. This is awarded to practitioners who have completed a programme of learning and provided evidence of the deliverance of the highest standards in patient care.
Chris currently tutors for the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry on behalf of the Royal College of Surgeons Faculty of Dentistry.
His goal is to provide a high standard of care and excellent dental treatment for all his patients.

Dr Monder Zbaeda
BDS (Hons), MSc, MFDS RCSEd
Monder Zbaeda graduated from Manchester University in 2006 with Honours and Distinction in his Finals examinations.
During his time at university he was awarded the Stafford Miller Prize for Academic Excellence and the New Graduate Prize by the British Society for the Study of Prosthetic Dentistry. His hospital based training UK and the US, culminated in the award of the Diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has also completed his Masters degree in Prosthodontics (replacement of worn and missing teeth with Implants, Dentures, Crowns and Bridges). His focus is to deliver the highest quality of dentistry with a sound evidence base. He is now aspiring to complete his specialist training in Prosthodontics in the next few years.
To complement his dental services, Monder is also experienced in providing wrinkle-reducing treatments, dermal fillers and facial peels.

Dr Mark Jensen
BDS, DPDS
Mark Jensen Qualified from Sheffield University in 2001 having previously trained and worked constructing crowns and bridges as a Dental Technician for nine years.
He has therefore extensive experience in providing general dental care and also in the construction and design of advanced dental restorations. He is dedicated to delivering high quality care to all his patients.
Recently Mark has completed a three year diploma course in post graduate dental studies at Bristol University. His final year concentrated on the provision of sedative techniques and this is a service he is keen to offer at the practice in the near future. On a similar theme he also has a keen interest in "hypnotic techniques in dentistry" and is currently furthering his skills in this area.
Mark is constantly seeking to improve his knowledge and skills for the benefit of his patients and is fully committed to life long learning. His current post graduate interests are undertaking a year long course with our in-house implant specialist Professor Cemal Ucer, which is almost completed. He is imminently embarking on a further year long part time course in advanced cosmetic dentistry with Dr Chris Orr.

Dr John Hyde

After over 30 years working in general practice John has now retired.
John has transferred the treatment of his patients over to the safe hands of Dr Monder Zbaeda and Dr Mark Jensen, happy in the knowledge that they will all be well cared for.

Stephen qualified from Manchester University with honours in 1992 After postgraduate training in hospital posts, He was awarded an MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics.
He continued to study for a further 5 years to become a Specialist Orthodontist and Hospital Consultant in Orthodontics. He also has a MPhil degree in orthodontics, MOrth and a FFDOrth of the Royal College of Surgeons.
He is registered by the General Dental Council and is recognised as a Specialist by them. He now works as a Consultant for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Stephen runs a clinic at Standish Street Dental Practice where he provides high quality orthodontic treatment using the latest techniques.

Prof Cemal Ucer
BDS, MSc, PhD, Oral Surgeon
Cemal Ucer runs a full time national referral centre at Oaklands Hospital - the Manchester Dental Implant Clinic which he established in 1995.
He was awarded an MSc in implantology at Manchester Dental Hospital following his research into guided bone regeneration and osteopromotion in 1995. Later, he has gained a PhD from the University of Manchester for his clinical and laboratory studies into the factors affecting the success of implant treatment in iliac grafts and the investigation of the effect of skeletal bone density on implant survival. Since 1994, he has been clinical director of the Multi-System Dental Implantology Certificate Course at Trafford General Hospital during which time he has personally trained and mentored more than 600 dentists.
His current clinical research interests include immediate implant placement and the effect of bone density on success of implant treatment. Academically, he has gained European recognition for his work in development of a new framework for teaching and assessment of clinical competencies in implantology. He is a co-author of the consensus paper produced by the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) following the first pan-European collaboration between EU Universities to establish common training and assessment standards in dental implantology. Cemal is one of the chief clinical investigators of a five year multi-centre international research project investigating the immediate implant placement technique using Straumann/TE implants.
He is a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons, British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, British Dental Association, Association of Dental Implantology (UK), and a Fellow of the Manchester Medical Society. He is currently the North West England representative on the National Board of Association of Dental Implantology (UK) and the President-Elect of the ADI (2011-2013), a highly esteemed and coveted position. Cemal is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), Editor-in-Chief of the ARK - the ADI on-line Education Programme - and ADI Director of Research with the responsibility of organising multi-centre research projects in dental practices.
Cemal is an Honorary Professor and Clinical Lead of the Diploma/MSc programme iin dental implantology at Salford University and a member of the Faculty of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Implant Dentistry.

With a wealth of experience our dental hygiene team are passionate about promoting oral health among our patients. We work with six part time hygienists.
Each of whom has her own personal approach, but jointly the dental hygiene team endeavours to treat, educate, improve then maintain your oral health, by creating tailor made home care routines that may even reduce the need for dental treatment.
