Department of health Chief Dental Officer to change sterilisation procedures in dental practices Oct 2008
Dental practices will need to improve their sterilisation equipment in accordance with the best practice guidelines. Equipment such as the new washer disinfectants and separate sterilisation rooms will now need to be part of the dental practice. The new guidelines are to become enforceable in 2009.
Planning is underway at Standish Street Dental Practice to purchase and place 2 new washer disinfectors in a central sterilisation department. This will necessitate building works so watch this space as we hope to have the central sterilisation unit up and running for autumn 2009.
